I chose to report on the retired US Representative Lois Capps RN. Capps spent 20 years as a nurse and a public health advocate for the Santa Barbara School District. During that time, she founded and served as the director of Santa Barbara County’s Teenage Pregnancy and Parenting Project and the Parent and Child Enrichment Center. She spent 17 years as a US Representative before retiring and being honored by the American Nurses Association for her legislation and her impact on the healthcare profession.
